Project Four – Peru Jungle – Exchange of Indigenous Knowledge
Jubilation Residential Centres Inc. was a secondary partner in an Indigenous Peoples Partnership Program (IPPP) project, funded by CIDA, during the month of January of 2008. A number of indigenous leaders from both Canada and the jungle in Peru (Province of Junin – communities known as Tres Unidos de Matereni) met face to face for discussions in Lima. This project was successfully completed, a full community-based plan was developed, and it was to go to the next phase of development shortly after January of 2008. However, CIDA started to internally evaluate the National IPPP program. This evaluation is still not completed.
So in the meantime, Jubilation has continue to work with Tres Unidos de Matereni, now in a primary leading role, in the area of provision of health needs. Jubilation, in partnership with ACED-Peru, Operation Blessing (700 Club) and CHAKAM School of the Bible, has been able to provide for the delivery of anti-parasite medication for one full year to treat the total population of Tres Unidos de Matereni. Recently, the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Chief and Council has joined the efforts of Jubilation Program.
Jubilation is continuing to meet with all partners on a regular basis to further the objectives in the community development plan of Tres Unidos de Matereni.
