During the last few decades, enrollments in
non-traditional education models have been on the increase. It is
estimated that millions are preferring to study by this method.
They do so because they find it convenient and
economical, and it gives them the training they want without the
frills.
Anyone wishing to obtain a
traditional certificate, diploma or degree should apply to one of the many, legitimate
and fine traditional Bible Colleges, Seminaries, or university based Schools
of Theology or Divinity. CHAKAM School of the Bible Inc, however, offers
a non - traditional alternative.
Jesus said to his followers : "There are many people to harvest but only a few
workers to help harvest them. Pray to the Lord, who owns the harvest, that
he will send more workers to gather the harvest" (Matthew
9:37-38).
CHAKAM School of the Bible Inc. believes in the
imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Consequently, we are
under pressure to train a sufficient number of qualified "harvest workers"
to spread the Good News to all parts of the world. Traditional methods,
offered through some fine on - campus Bible Colleges, Seminaries, and/or
university - based Schools of Theology/Divinity, will not provide the church
with sufficient numbers of trained, qualified workers.
CHAKAM School of the Bible Inc. provides just one
more acceptable means to train such harvest workers.
The leadership of CHAKAM prayed to the Lord, who
owns the harvest, and the establishment of our school was the result.

WHAT KIND OF A SCHOOL
IS CHAKAM SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE INC. ?
CHAKAM School of the Bible is a non-traditional
Bible College which does not necessarily require formal, on-campus
residence or classroom attendance. So, in fact it is an innovative and
unique distance education program.
However, on-campus courses may, from time to time,
be held at the various campuses around the world (see under "campus
programs").
Students can complete all course work, reading,
research/writing requirements and internships through prescriptive
independent study programs under faculty guidance and supervision
according to individualized academic plans, developed shortly after
application.
CHAKAM uses an open-entry, continuous intake
process. All programs are self-paced, providing students an opportunity to
advance as rapidly, or as slowly, as their time and ability permit.
However, please note that the time requirements for this model of training
are equivalent to most on-campus programs in many well respected
institutions.
PRIOR LEARNING
RECOGNITION
Many students have already completed varying
amounts of academic course work, on-the-job training experience, and
specialized training, prior to entering our college. Consequently, it is
difficult to accurately pre-determine the length of each student's study
program, since no two students are exactly the same. Therefore, upon
acceptance, students are asked to complete a detailed portfolio guide to
determine completion of course work requirements. These requirements will
be formulated into an individualized academic plan, which will be
presented to the student for approval before officially starting his/her
studies with CHAKAM.
Please note that no more than 40% of the course
load of each registered program can be transferred from academic or PLAR
credits.
COMPLETION OF
ACADEMIC PLAN REQUIREMENTS
Academic plan requirements may be completed by
utilizing any one of the following methods :
- Transfer of Educational or PLAR credits - previously earned acceptable academic credits or credits obtaining
through prior learning situations may be transferred to the college to
meet course work requirements. Transcript request forms will be provided
after receipt of your signed application form/portfolio guide.
- Personalized Academic Streams - after review of
a student's educational history and occupational experience, including
any seminars, workshops, specialized church training programs and
independent reading experience, a Personalized Academic Stream (PAS) may
be offered in lieu of additional study requirements.
- Mentoring - some students will be presented with
specialized accelerated guides, using the skills of local mentors,
approved and recognized by CHAKAM.
- Academic Work - detailed study guides, recommended textbooks, and final tests/examinations will be provided to meet course work requirements not satisfied through any of the other
methods described above. These study guides will consist of individual
well - developed distance education modules and/or on - campus courses
delivered at various campuses.
- CHAKAM Mini - Thesis - for some students, particularly students in their second final year, this may be a final project. The student is to develop a 10,000 word mini - thesis on a
subject dealing with practical ministry, approved by CHAKAM faculty.
Though final in nature, this course work study requirement may be
started at anytime throughout the approved academic plan.
